Bolted Tank Construction Services

Bolted tank construction is on-site erection of a storage tank from factory-coated steel panels bolted together, with no field welding.

Tarsco erects bolted tanks from 2,100 to 5,000,000 gallons in ASTM A36 carbon steel, using ground-level hydraulic jacking and factory-trained crews, to AWWA D103, NSF, API 12B, FM, and NFPA.

Bolted Tank Construction

Tarsco crews erect bolted tanks with hydraulic jacks at ground level and torque every joint to specification, so shell assembly stays off scaffolding and large cranes are not required. Work follows OSHA, AWWA, NSF, and NFPA requirements.

Because panels are prefabricated and modular, the same method works for new builds, retrofits, and sites that are remote or space-constrained – and tank insulation systems can be installed as part of the same scope.

Our Bolted Tank Construction Services

Design & Engineering

With an experienced and certified crew, Tarsco provides clients with detailed and conceptual designs that prioritize safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance. We also perform hydrostatic testing and commissioning to ensure structural integrity and readiness for operation.

Construction Method & Safety

Tarsco’s certified in-house engineering team provides safe, cost-effective services. Our ground-level jacking system improves structural quality, allows proper inspection, and eliminates the need for large cranes or scaffolding. We offer accessories for new or existing storage products. Our process includes contract review, pre-job site inspections, and acceptance procedures to guarantee project success and compliance.

Site Adaptability

At Tarsco, we use a modular design that enables effective customization. Our qualified team can construct products that adapt to challenging environments, including seismic zones and confined spaces. The absence of cranes improves the ability to work in limited spaces. Our bolted systems are easy to dismantle and relocate if needed.

Timelines & Installation Efficiency

Tarsco's team of professionals aims to provide quick, cost-effective, and safe installation. We are one of the leading water tank installers that use prefabricated parts that are easy to ship and assemble on-site. We use racks, pallets, and wooden crates for compact packing and hardware in buckets for safe shipping and handling.

Materials & Construction

The effective choice of materials helps build durable, corrosion-resistant, and high-performing products. Our in-house team takes care of the material choice and construction

Bolted Panel Assembly

Tarsco water tank construction and other products use carbon steel, epoxy, or stainless steel. Carbon steel of ASTM A36 standard with a minimum thickness of 3/32” and a maximum of 1/2” with dimensions 1.52 m x 3.00m is used. Standard colors used are white, tan, cobalt blue, Caribbean blue, environmental green, and forest green. Manus Bond sealant ensures structural integrity and long service life.

Corrosion Resistance Systems

Tarsco bolted storage tank construction makes use of high-grade bolts (grade 8), nuts, and washers that have a dichromate coating. Polycapped head bolts offer better corrosion resistance. As a global leader in factory-applied coated bolted tanks, Tarsco products have an interior and exterior basecoat thickness of 7 mils and 2-4 mils DFT average, respectively, and an exterior polyester thickness of 2-3 mils DFT average.

Skilled Construction Crews

Tarsco in-house certified teams adhere to safety and regulatory protocols. They have 120+ hours of in-house safety training and an EMR safety record that is well above industry average. We follow ASTM, AWWA, NSF, FDA, NFPA, and FM standards to ensure safe, efficient, and effective design and construction. Our rigorous QA procedures ensure precise dimensions, appropriate corrosion resistance, and regulatory compliance.

Yes. Panels ship in compact crates and assemble with minimal equipment, so access-restricted and remote sites are practical.
Yes, Tarsco offers full turnkey services that include planning, design, construction, installation, and operational aid for all industrial storage solution requirements.
Both. Tarsco covers planning, engineering, foundations, erection, and commissioning, or supervises an owner's crew.
Factory-coated panels are bolted into rings and raised with hydraulic jacks from ground level, so there is no field welding and no large crane.
20–40+ years, depending on coating/liner, water chemistry, environment, and maintenance. Routine inspections, anode protection (if needed), and timely recoating extend service life.
About 3–4 months typically – shorter than a welded tank, because there is no on-site welding and fewer crew hours are needed.
Survey and set anchor layout, cure foundation, stage materials, then erect shell/roof with jacks or a small crane, install gaskets/bolts to spec, add nozzles/ladder/vent, perform coating touch-ups, hydrotest (and disinfect if potable), then commission.
